Africa is the birthplace of civilization.

Its landmass is more than 3 times that of the United States or Europe.

African civilization predates recorded history. Its roots are planted in oral histories and the archeology and legends of antiquity.

Africa and Africans were known to the Egyptians and the Greeks.

Africa has been home to thousands of cultures and societies, from the little-known and long-forgotten to the heralded civilizations of Nubia and the expansive medieval empires of Ghana, Mali and Songhai.

Africans are an ancient and diverse people.
