If national origin is significant and the rights and protections of American citizenship subject to the political whims of the moment…perhaps “South African immigrant and naturalized American citizen Elon Musk” is a useful frame for understanding the co-president’s unapologetic racism and his profound inability to fathom what it means to be an American.  Birth to 31 as a White South African must have left a mark. An ugly mark.
